Peter Dozzi

Peter Dozzi

Peter is a master in his unique style of creative laser engraving.

In his late teens Peter was whisked off overseas to France and the United Kingdom for 8 months, where he toured the entire top London Galleries and admired the local architecture. Upon his return to his last year of High School he excelled at Science and Technical Drawing. It was no surprise when Peter started an Architectural degree in Brisbane Australia in the late 70’s.

As a talented musician in a band, Peter’s artistic skills were a further asset, being called upon to design various other Bands’ logos and create their Posters as well as for their own events and up-coming gigs.

Painting and drawing is something Peter has always done. He has attended many Library Holiday Art Programmes and Adult Art Education classes whenever possible.

In the late 80’s an Australian artist with Bachelor of Fine Arts mentored Peter, teaching him to be more intuitive and interpretive in his painting style. He set up his home studio, and over that year certainly developed a greater understanding of colour, light and perspective that has aided him throughout his creative career.

In 1998 Peter attended The Heidelberg Arts School in Melbourne.

In 2008 Peter began employment as a laser engraver. He developed his skills in computer technology and design modifications to company logos and much more over the following three years.

Discovering the laser technology triggered Peter’s creative flair yet again. Through the development of this skill using laser technology, Peter has now fine-tuned all his creative Arts and Technical skills to create renditions from photographs and drawings onto native New Zealand woods such as kauri, rimu and kahikatea.

Using a variety of techniques, he is attempting to capture New Zealand landscapes on these native New Zealand woods for International visitors to take a piece of New Zealand with them. New Zealand landscape lovers will also appreciate the detail captured of our glorious mountain environment on these rare woods.

Peter now lives in Wanaka, New Zealand with his New Zealand-born wife, Lyz, and her adult son. Lyz often employs Peter to laser engrave her designs, using Te Reo Maori, for Pre-schools throughout New Zealand, some of which are produced on the local Wanaka driftwood.
