Jane Sinclair
Jane grew up in the remote farming area of the Waitotara Valley, at the end of the longest dead-end road in New Zealand. She started school later than most due to her isolation however, she says, "I appreciate my earliest teacher" and "being from the bush, my rural surroundings, with vivid memories of the light and shadows at play."
Over the last 30 years Jane has experimented in most mediums – Watercolours, Acrylics and Pastels but after her move to Wanaka she discovered that using oil paints and a palette knife on large canvases helped me to capture the dramatic lighting and sculptured lines of the unique Central Otago Landscape.
"Living in Wanaka gives me amazing access to some great plein air painting. I can take a short drive in any direction be amongst some breath taking views. I have spent most of my life creating in some form and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to pursue my passion for painting."
Jane has exhibited internationally and many of her large landscapes have found homes overseas as a reminder of this beautiful part of this world, she says, " although it is sometimes hard to part with a painting it is a privilege to think someone else will be enjoying what I have created."
